Olpe is a medium-sized town in the district of Olpe, which belongs to the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia. The city was granted city rights in 1311 by Archbishop Heinrich II Count of Virneburg. Since 1819 Olpe has been the district town and the seat of the district council of the Olpe district.
